Resilience in Color
My Journey from Heartbreak to Artistic Rebirth
Much time has passed since I last picked up a paint brush. The memories are a bit foggy but I do believe I painted less because I was just so focused on my career. I was a single mother desperately clinging on to my ambitious goals. But after a series of unfortunate events, I decided to turn inwards, I needed to become more self-aware.
My journey, paved with shards of broken relationships, consisted of heartbreaks and farewells. I soon began to realize these were wounds I had to learn to heal from. As I took accountability for my role in the interplay of my broken heart, I could feel the wounds healing. I could feel the cracks closing up and an electrical energy of love fusing the parts of me I forgot to love.
It was at that moment I began to crave for expression and transform through art.
Healing was my beginning. As I began to spread the premixed textured acrylic across the canvas, I could feel a softness in through my light body, slowly I grew lighter, more peaceful and more hopeful.
Forgiveness & Love became my mantra as I learned to forgive not just those who had left scars on my heart, but also myself. I searched for my favorite green acrylic as it reminded me of the Heart Chakra. The heart chakra has always been associated with love, compassion, and connection, and when I felt balanced, I felt free, loved, and loving. The frequency of love was not a perfect pattern but a consist volt of strength that allowed me to forgive and move forward.
Integrating Shadow was about embracing every part of myself, the light and the dark. In my artwork, shadows played just as important a role as light. I used mixed textures—rough against smooth, dull against shiny—emphasizing that beauty exists in the contrasts and conflicts of our inner landscapes.
ReAwakening marked a resurgence of vibrancy in my work. I found boldness in my choices of colors and subjects. My art became an expression of joy and rediscovery—a celebration of the self that had emerged from the shadows, more complete and more radiant than ever before.
ReCreating my life through my art meant redefining what happiness and fulfillment looked like for me. With every canvas, I dared to experiment, to break the conventions I had adhered to. My art became unpredictable, each piece a surprise not only to my audience but to myself.
Reliving is where I am now, enjoying every moment, each stroke of my brush a testament to living fully. My art is vibrant, full of life, a reflection of a journey that has moved from darkness to light, from pain to joy.
Each piece I create carries a piece of my story, my struggles, and my victories. My art is not just meant to adorn walls but to inspire hearts and provoke thought—to remind us of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of art to heal and transform.
Through sharing my story and my art, I invite you to reflect on your own journey, to find beauty in what seems broken, and perhaps, to begin a renaissance of your own.
